We LOVED this book! We read it for school because it went well with our World War One project. It is based on the true story of Henry Friston, a sailor in the navy who found a tortoise -Ali Pasha-on the beaches of Gallipoli. As well as the beautiful illustrations throughout the book I really appreciated it being about aspects of World War One which I wasn't so familiar with ie. the Gallipoli and Suez Canal campaigns.
