Here are some ideas we've used in school and am currently using for K (5 yo, year 1 UK):
Rhyme Robber
A really fun Orchard Toys game, helping to learn about rhyming words.
Numicon at Home
This is a multi-sensory maths programme. This is what the 'blurb' says on the OUP website:
Numicon is a multi-sensory approach to teaching maths developed by experts in the classroom. It is designed to help children understand connections between numbers.
Through the multi-sensory activities and mathematical language of Numicon, your child will develop the understanding and skills that underpin their later understanding of number.
Playdough
Wonderfully versatile and useful for loads of different projects. I use this recipe:
the imagination tree
Lapbooks
I've always enjoyed doing these.
K LOVES doing them too! She's always pestering me to do her lapbook!
We've just finished one from homeschool share on the book "A New Coat for Anna" by Harriet Ziefert and Anita Lobel:
Literacy
I use Jolly Phonics materials to teach K to read and write. She also reads through the Oxford University Press "Biff, Chip and Kipper" Reading Tree series as well as the OUP Songbirds series.
I made this "Tricky words" flower and caterpillar to put on the wall to help her become familiar with some of the tricky words she was coming across:
Maths
We're using Heinemann Mathematics 2 (SPMG). The workbooks are bright and cheerful.
