                                                           Katherine Woodfine

I am so excited to have found a new series of children's books. I read this one to check it out and was very pleasantly surprised. It's a crime mystery set in a London department store about 100 years ago. The characters are really likeable and it's pretty gripping at times. L (10) absolutely loved it and can't wait to read the next in the series. Some of the main characters are boys and I think J (9) will enjoy it too.

The Torn Veil                        Gulshan Esther

R has been completely glued to this book. It's the true account of a Pakistani girl who became a believer. (It threw up some interesting questions of style and theology which were a good thing to discuss with R.)

An Eagle in the Snow                         Michael Morpurgo

Enjoyed by R (12) as an Audible

100 Cupboards                                   N.D.Wilson

Strange Star                          Emma Carroll

Auggie and Me: Three Wonder Stories                 R.J. Palacio

This is not a sequel to Wonder, it's written in the same time frame but from the viewpoint of three of Auggie's friends. It's really good, particularly Julian's story. It's definitely not as good as Wonder though. There are issues in the book which I wanted to talk to R about, which is why I read it first (eg boyfriends, attitude towards parents).

Wonder                                        R.J. Palacio
