Too Small?

John 1-12 For You: Find deeper fulfillment as you meet the Word (God's Word For You) by [Moody, Josh]

They [the disciples] saw Jesus approaching the boat, walking on the water;
and they were frightened. But he said to them, 'It is I: don't be afraid.'
John 6.19,20

Josh Moody:

What kind of King is this? That is the question that faces us at the end of this part of the story. He is far greater than we can imagine, and his claim upon our lives is more significant than our tendency to domesticate God so often allows. He is King of kings and Lord of lords, the kind of King who can calm a storm and do so immediately—the great I AM. Is this how we treat Jesus? Do we worship him? Do we allow the “storms” in our lives to triumph over the scale of the majesty of this Jesus? Or are the situations of our personal daily struggles and the mammoth complexities of our world brought to heel, and brought into perspective, by the astonishing power of this King Jesus?

Have you ever felt such awe for Jesus that you’ve needed to hear his reassurance that you don’t need to be afraid of him? If not, might it be that your view of Jesus is simply too small? What looms larger for you today—the storms of your life, or the power of King Jesus? What difference will his power make to the way you view your day?
