Blessed

Blessed is the one...

whose delight is in the law of the LORD,

and who meditates  on his law day and night.

That person is like a tree planted by streams of water,

which yields its fruit in season,

and whose leaf does not wither-

whatever they do prospers.

Psalm 1.1-3

Dale Ralph Davis in his book says that the person who is preoccupied with God's Word (delights in and meditates on it day and night) has:

stability            a tree planted

vitality              by streams of water

productivity    yields its fruit

durability        does not wither

prosperity        prospers

This person's "stability is not monotonous and his vitality is not chaotic."

I've found this set of characteristics of the "one who is blessed" to be really helpful to pray through for people- one for each person on my list and just keeping on circling around.
