Jesus Taking Shape

Titus For You: For Reading, For Feeding, For Leading
At his appointed season he has brought [the hope of eternal life] to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Saviour.
Titus 1.2,3

Chester:

Eternal life is brought to light in preaching. The eternal promise of God appears when we share the gospel. Eternal life appears in your town when you speak about Jesus.....God’s purposes are all about Jesus, from eternity past to eternity future. God’s plans are brought to light in Jesus. But how is Jesus seen? Where can people see him today? They cannot go to Palestine and see him healing the sick or walking on water. How can they encounter Jesus? In our words, in our evangelism, in our preaching. As you speak the gospel, eternity enters history.

Christ is made present. On a cold day, you can see your breath. It forms a cloud in the air. It is almost as if something like this is happening when we share the gospel. With spiritual eyesight, we see Jesus himself taking shape. He appears and people meet him in our words.

I find this such an encouragement to keep on talking about Jesus and reading the Bible with ladies here. When we speak about Jesus we are making him present! It feels like a slog most of the time and we don't see a lot of response but this is such a needed reminder of what we are actually doing when we speak- we are bringing to light eternal life and introducing Jesus to people who may have never met him before!
