Yezidi Friends

We visited Yezidi IDP friends who were busy preparing for their Feast Day next week.
We joined in making kolyche (pastries filled with dates and coconut):

This goat was spending the week being fattened up ready to be sacrificed at their feast on Friday.
They really want us to come for their Feast but I'm not that keen to eat the cute goat!

The little girl on the left is called "Flee".
Her family fled da'esh two months before she was born.

We talked a lot on this visit about what had happened back in 2014 when da'esh came. Our friends showed us photos of their wedding (they'd managed to grab them as they fled that night). In one of the photos was a family who had a tragic story to tell. The mum and three sons were visiting her father in his village when da'esh came. They were captured and taken and no one knows what happened to them. The husband, in his own village managed to get away but lives now as a broken man in our city. These stories are so heart breaking to hear.
