Remembering 3rd August 2014

On the 3rd August we visited Yezidi IDP friends to remember with them the horrors of 3rd August 2014 when the genocide began. They live-along with their chickens and rooster- in an unfinished building on a main road:


We spent a lot of time with a Yezidi community who live in a farming/shepherding village outside of Dohuk. It felt even hotter there than it did in the city (45C). 
The children sleep outside to try to keep cooler:


We were very surprised to come across some deer in a garden centre:


We drove around the lake through the mountains to visit friends who have just had a baby:
