Dishes and Diggers

We're so enjoying the school holidays! It's so lovely to have time to do things other than school in the mornings! Here's some things we've been up to recently:

I'm so thankful to have discovered that K's best friend from kindergarten lives just down the road from us.
We spent a very happy afternoon with them and they then sent food over for dinner.
This is aubergine and courgette stuffed with meat, herbs and veggies, in  tomato sauce.
Our love affair with Syrian food continues!
My Syrian friend taught me how to make fool.
It's yogurt, tahini, lemon, garlic, broad beans and cumin all mixed together
(tomatoes, olive oil and cumin on top) and is delicious.
J has been working hard trying to get our little allotment opposite our house up and running, ready to plant fruit trees.
It was a family and neighbourly affair getting all the earth (which had very excitingly been dumped by a big digger) prepared.
The neighbours were very happy to all take some for themselves!
We spent time with a Syrian family and were in awe of the crocheting skill of the granny.
Jy&K and their friends had an awful lot of fun digging up the garden and making mud castles.
Our garden is never going to be beautiful, but it is a place of fun and I need to learn to breathe deeply and smile and not get stressed about it!
If you can't find Jy, just look up a tree!
