Bruchko

Bruchko by Bruce Olson was on the reading list for My Father's World home school curriculum. I read a chapter to the children every school day mid-morning and I had to be firm not give into their "one more chapter!" pleas, otherwise we would never have done any other work!

It is an autobiography about Bruce Olson who aged 19 left America for Venezuela then Colombia and lived among various people groups, mostly with the Motilone tribes. We were fascinated by his story of coming to faith and seeing what it's like for a teenager being given a very hard time by his family and church for his profession of real faith. The stories in the jungle are exciting and thought provoking and a few tears were shed. It absolutely captured the children's imaginations and they're already asking me to read the sequel/updated version.
