If you're looking for something to read to your children over Advent, then last year we loved this book, set in the time just before and during Jesus' birth:
We've started using The Expected One for Advent family prayers for the second year. It's very simple but is good for giving a Bible overview: each day you read a verse (which we've put on our homemade advent calendar along with some Random Acts of Kindness- RAKs), read the thought about the verse then do the discussion questions.
